The rules and agreement for using PriceTracker

๐Ÿ“‹

Please read these Terms carefully before using PriceTracker. By creating an account or using this service โ€” including as a guest โ€” you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Last updated: 1 March 2026  ยท  Effective date: 1 March 2026

PriceTracker is a free, non-commercial, community-driven Progressive Web Application (PWA) that helps Nigerian consumers track and share product prices across local markets. The platform is operated as a non-profit project by Mark Peschke (private individual) with no advertising, no data monetisation, and no commercial purpose.

What the Service Provides

  • A platform to submit and view price reports from Nigerian markets
  • Price history and trend information based on community contributions
  • Personal shopping list management
  • Watchlist to monitor price changes for specific products
  • Guest browsing mode without registration
  • Community-driven market and product database
  • Activity points earned for price contributions โ€” visible only to you in your account
Important: All price data on PriceTracker is submitted by community members. We do not verify, guarantee, or warrant the accuracy of any price report. Prices in Nigerian markets can change rapidly. Always confirm prices in-person before making purchasing decisions.

Age Requirements

In compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, Section 31 and the Child Rights Act 2003, you must be at least 18 years of age to create an account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

Anyone may browse PriceTracker as a guest without an account. Creating an account and submitting price reports requires registration and age confirmation.

Account Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
  • Your username will be publicly visible alongside any price reports you submit โ€” choose it accordingly
  • You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use of your account at info@pricetracker.ng
  • You may not create a new account to circumvent a suspension or ban โ€” such accounts will be terminated without notice
  • You must provide accurate information when registering โ€” false information may result in account termination
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

Account Termination by You

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Price reports you submitted may be anonymised and retained as part of the community database.

PriceTracker depends entirely on honest, accurate community contributions. By using the service, you agree to the following conduct standards.

โœ“ PERMITTED

  • Submitting genuine prices you personally observed
  • Browsing and sharing publicly available price data
  • Creating shopping lists for personal use
  • Reporting inaccurate or outdated prices to us
  • Using the service for personal, non-commercial purposes

โœ— PROHIBITED

  • Submitting false, fabricated, or deliberately misleading prices
  • Spamming, flooding, or bulk-submitting inaccurate data
  • Attempting to manipulate price trends or mislead other users
  • Scraping or automated harvesting of data without permission
  • Using the service for any commercial or advertising purpose
  • Attempting to gain unauthorised access to the platform or its systems
  • Impersonating another user or creating fake accounts
  • Uploading malicious code, scripts, or harmful content
Violations may result in account suspension or termination. Where circumstances require immediate action to protect the platform or other users โ€” such as fraud, data manipulation, or system attacks โ€” we may act without prior notice. Serious violations may be reported to relevant authorities where required or appropriate under applicable law.

Your Contributions

By submitting price reports or other content to PriceTracker, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, and use that content for the purpose of operating and improving the service. You retain full ownership of any original content you create.

Price data submitted by you becomes part of the community database and may be visible to all users, including in anonymised form after account deletion. You confirm that any content you submit does not infringe the rights of any third party.

Our Content

The PriceTracker name, design, and software may not be copied, reproduced, modified, or distributed without our prior written permission, except as permitted by law.

Price Data Accuracy

Nigerian market prices are subject to rapid and significant fluctuation โ€” prices can change multiple times within a single day, vary considerably between stalls in the same market, and shift sharply in response to fuel costs, exchange rates, seasonal supply, and broader economic conditions. All prices shown are submitted by community members at a specific point in time and may not reflect current market reality by the time you view them.

In compliance with the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018, we commit to the following:

  • Plain language: These Terms are written in clear, understandable English as required by the FCCPA right to information
  • No unfair terms: We do not include clauses that unfairly limit your statutory rights under Nigerian law
  • No misleading representations: We will not make false claims about the service, its capabilities, or your rights
  • Right to complain: You may submit complaints about the service directly to us or to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC)
  • Free service: PriceTracker is provided free of charge with no hidden fees or subscription costs
Non-commercial project: PriceTracker generates no revenue and has no commercial investors. The service exists solely to benefit Nigerian consumers through price transparency.

The collection and processing of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms. The Privacy Policy is fully compliant with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 and the General Application and Implementation Directive (GAID) 2025.

As a non-commercial project, there is no guarantee of indefinite operation. If we decide to discontinue PriceTracker permanently, we will provide at least 30 days' advance notice to registered users by email where reasonably possible. During this period, you may download your personal data via your account settings before closure.

Your Data & Portability

Registered users may download a copy of their personal data at any time via the account settings page. This includes your submitted price reports, shopping lists, watchlist entries, and account information. This right is provided in accordance with NDPA 2023, Section 34 (Right to Data Portability).

No Warranty on Price Data

PriceTracker is a community information platform. All price data is user-generated and unverified. We expressly disclaim any warranty, express or implied, as to the accuracy, reliability, completeness, or timeliness of any price information displayed on the platform. Always confirm prices directly with the seller before making any purchasing decision.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Nigerian law, PriceTracker and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from:

  • Reliance on inaccurate or outdated price data on the platform
  • Temporary unavailability or technical failures of the service
  • Unauthorised access to your account resulting from your own failure to safeguard your credentials โ€” we remain responsible for security failures on our side
  • Actions of other users of the platform
Statutory rights preserved: Nothing in this section limits rights that cannot be excluded or restricted under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 or any other mandatory Nigerian law.
